The bird club responsible for the production of the county annual bird report Birds In Northumbria as well as a monthly sightings bulletin. Indoor meetings are held in Newcastle during the winter months and field trips throughout the year.

The local wildlife trust owning a number of excellent reserves throughout the region. Produces Roebuck magazine quarterly.

Natural History Society of Northumbria

One of our oldest natural history organisations based in offices at the Hancock Museum. Regularly publishes its Transactions which contain authoritative papers on many natural history subjects.

Durham Bird Club

Another long-standing local bird club covering the area between the Rivers Tyne and Tees.

Yet another long-standing bird club covering the Cleveland area.

British Trust for Ornithology (BTO)

The most important national organisation for collecting, interpreting and utilising ornithological information country-wide.

The largest bird conservation body in the world, with a Regional office in Newcastle upon Tyne.
